Dover City Court is held every third Wednesday of each month 9:00 a.m. at 625 Donelson Parkway, at Dover City Hall.  Municipal court has jurisdiction in cases involving violations of city ordinances; such as traffic violations, building and codes violations, and other city offenses.

Marty Blane serves as the City Judge.  The City Judge is appointed by the Board of Mayor and Alderman.  The City Judge tries all persons charged with violation of the ordinances of the City.

Traffic CITATION INFORMATION

YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR TRAFFIC SCHOOL (ABSENT COURT ORDER) IF:

  1. You are charged with speeding in excess of 19 MPH over the posted speed limit
  2. If you are speeding in a school zone
  3. If you are a juvenile you must appear in court for traffic school option
  4. Have a commercial drivers license endorsement
  5. Have attended a traffic school or had any moving violations within the last 2 years

If you feel you are eligible and would like to attend a traffic school you will need to email your Motor Vehicle Report within 2 weeks of the violation date to the Court Clerk you will need to provide the following:

  1. Name and Citation number
  2. Current Address
  3. A copy of your driving history from the state in which you are licensed.

You can obtain a copy of your history by going to your local DMV or some states have a website you can obtain it online www.tn.gov/safety for Tennessee drivers license.
Final eligibility will be determined after your driving history has been received.

If eligible, we will send you a notice of eligibility with the deadline for the traffic school to be completed, along with a website where, if you are attending a school in Tennessee you can obtain the list of 4 hour in class schools along with their phone numbers. If you are not a Tennessee resident you will need to find a State Certified 4 hour in class school in your area. It must be a 4 hour in class school and no online schools will be accepted. You will need to send the certificate of completion the school gives you along with a 75.00 court cost by the date you are given on your notice. Upon completion of the traffic school requirements your ticket will be dismissed. Failure to complete any of the requirements on time will result in a guilty verdict being entered on your citation.

You may pay your ticket online, by mail with a money order, cashier check or by phone at the (931) 232‐5907 with a debit or credit (3% fee applied to credit or debit card use). No personal checks accepted.

If you wish to make a court appearance regarding your citation, you must appear at Dover City Hall located at 625 Donelson Parkway at the time indicated on your citation.
