Dover Police Wins New Vehicle
The Dover Police Department won 3rd place in the State of Tennessee in the Law Enforcement Challenge. The challenge is a competition between similar sizes and types of law enforcement agencies. It recognizes and rewards the best overall traffic safety programs in Tennessee and throughout the United States. Departments submit an application that documents their agency's efforts and effectiveness in the areas of speed enforcement and public information and education programs in the community.
Sixty-six other departments in the state of Tennessee participated in the Law Enforcement Challenge by submitting a book that detailed what each department did to improve traffic safety through Speed Enforcement, promote and enforce Child Passenger Safety in their communities, preventing Impaired Drivers on the roads, and educating the community about underage drinking, pedestrian safety, and occupant protection.
The Dover PD was honored to place 3rd in the State of Tennessee in their category of Departments of 1-10 Officers.
Each department was given a key that could possibly win the grand prize, a fully loaded 2008 Dodge Durango. Chief Kim Wallace was the lucky winner when she drew the winning key!

The vehicle will be utilized for many events, such as community and educational programs, along with saturation patrol and sobriety checkpoints.

The Dover Police Department is very fortunate to have been involved with the Governor's Highway Safety Office who is behind such traffic safety programs as "Booze It or Lose It" and "Click It or Ticket".
It is about saving lives and keeping our roads safe, a priority for the Dover Police Department.
